Professional Liability For Owners Project Policies
Owners protective professional indemnity policy (OPPI) provides project owners with an insurance
solution should the architects or engineer's (A/E) coverage not be available or is insufficient.
This allows the owner to control the program as the named insured and obtain project specific
coverage in excess of the A/E's policy limit. The OPPI policy indemnifies the project owner for
losses arising out of the A/E's negligence in performing professional services on the owner's
project or projects.
Policies may be individual or multiple and may be annual or multiyear. A typical policy would
provide coverage throughout the duration of the construction process with an automatic five year
extended reporting period.
